Our latest mechanisation initiatives are transforming farming practices across Kenya and Uganda, deploying precision agriculture tools and strengthening partnerships with equipment manufacturers to boost farmer productivity.
Precision Agriculture Comes to East Africa
Pamoja Group has long been at the forefront of agricultural mechanisation across Sub-Saharan Africa, but the past twelve months have seen a step-change in both the scale and sophistication of our deployment. Working in close partnership with Topcon Precision Agriculture and our network of exclusive OEM distributors, we have rolled out GPS-guided planting and harvesting systems to over 15 commercial farming operations in Kenya and Uganda.
These systems, which enable centimetre-accurate field operations, are dramatically reducing seed waste, optimising fertiliser application, and cutting fuel consumption by an average of 18% compared to conventional methods.
Smallholder Access Programme
Beyond large-scale commercial deployments, we have expanded our smallholder access programme, providing affordable mechanisation services to over 2,000 smallholder farmers across the Rift Valley and Eastern Uganda. Through our flexible leasing and outsourcing model, farmers can access mechanisation on a per-acre basis without the capital barrier of outright ownership.
“The difference in our yields since we started working with Pamoja has been remarkable. We can now plant and harvest at exactly the right time, and the precision of the equipment means nothing is wasted.”, Farmer cooperative leader, Nakuru County
What’s Next
We are now scaling these programmes to Tanzania and Rwanda, and are in advanced discussions with three additional OEM manufacturers to expand our distributorship portfolio. Our target is to bring precision agriculture tools to 10,000 smallholder farmers across East Africa by 2028.
